Women's Health & Natural Medicine

How does Acupuncture help with PMS, Menstrual Irregularities, Infertility, Endometriosis, Menopausal Symptoms?

Using the diagnositic skills of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), we determine where a blockage or imbalance has occurred. We feel the pulse in 12 different positions, look at the tongue, feel the abdomen, ask questions about body temperature, dietary habits, sleep, etc. In our treatment plan, we typically choose points on the Liver, Spleen, Kidney or Conception meridians to strengthen the woman's body. Warming certain areas with Moxa may be appropriate. Menstrual pain for example is defined as a stagnation of Qi and/or Blood. By moving these energies, the pain disappears - not just momentarily, but with an accumulative effect that provides long-term relief.

Along with Acupuncture, nutritional adjustments may be necessary and often small changes produce dramatic results!

Menstrual cramps, PMS, and endometriosis often result from a blockage of qi that may be due to inappropriate diet (often from drinking ice cold fluids). An abundance of saturated fats from animal foods and dairy can also lead to to hormonal imbalance. In our weight-oriented society, dieting and exercise can be the source of menstrual problems.

Occasionally, detoxification of the liver and kidneys is recommended to allow these organs to function optimally.

Transition from HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) to Natural Therapy

Long before the negative impact of HRT was published and known, we have worked with many women that chose to take a natural approach to dealing with menopausal symptoms. We can help you in the transition from HRT to herbal or homeopathic remedies, and provide advice and recepies you can incorporate easily into your daily routine and diet.

What should you expect?

Acupuncture and herbs are calming and gentle and do not produce undesired side effects. While pharmaceutical drugs address the pathological symptoms, Acupuncture and herbs work on the underlying cause of GYN problems, while helping to eliminate symptoms such as:

  • PMS along with Irritability, Depression
  • Menstrual Pain and Irregularity
  • Abdominal and Breast distention
  • Excessive menstrual bleeding
  • Migraines / Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of sexual energy
  • Yeast infections
  • Hot Flashes / Night sweats
  • Infertility
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibrocystic breasts
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Transition from HRT to Natural Methods
